beautiful new bags + glasses case giveaway!

b.sirius Butterfly Tote and Butterfly Zip Up Wallet

With bags both sweet and stylish, b.sirius have captured the high spirits of the season and released them back into the wilds of the city with a gorgeous new collection - just in time for Christmas! Four fabric prints with new bird and floral motifs form the basis for the Spring|Summer 2013 range which features delicate cut-out and stitched detailing throughout.

Borders of lace-like detail and signature appliques (as well as clever hidden pockets and storage) have been added to the pretty line-up of very practical bags - ranging from versatile clutches, satchels, wallets and totes, to the new iPad clutch (brilliant!) and glasses cases which make an ideal Christmas gift (for a friend, or perhaps a gift-to-self!)...

b.sirius Glasses Cases for GIVEAWAY

The lovely girls at b.sirius (www.bsirius.com) have also given us four of their brand new GLASSES CASES (valued at AUD $45 each) to giveaway to our readers! We have one in each of this season's prints - as shown from left to right: Magnolia, Tree of Life, Butterfly and Immerse lying in front. For your chance to win, simply leave a comment on this post telling us which design is your favourite! It couldn't be easier... Entries will be divided into four groups based on your preferred design, and a winner from each group will be drawn on Monday 10th December, 2012.

b.sirius Immerse Satchel

Pictured at top are two pieces featuring the 'Butterfly' design - the Butterfly Tote (AUD $155) and Butterfly Zip Up Wallet (AUD $84). We love the contrast between the dark grey/blue faux leather and the high key fabric print, with its overlaying reds and yellows.

Above is the perfectly compact and clever Satchel in this season's 'Immerse' (AUD $155), while below is the sweetest little ruffled Café Clutch in 'Tree of Life' (AUD $88).

b.sirius Tree of Life Cafe Clutch

Below is the essential Button Clutch design featuring this season's 'Magnolia' fabric print (AUD $99). The gentle curves of the top flap are echoed in the lace-like cut-out border detail - so pretty!

b.sirius Magnolia Button Clutch

pocket tees reduced to $20!

Pocket Designs originated in 2001 as a small Perth based graphic design business producing flyers, illustrations and other promotional material.

In December 2004, Pocket Designs launched its own range of mens fitted tees in fashionable boutique stores in Perth, Australia.

Pictured: Guitarist Chocolate Mens T-Shirt WAS $60.00 - NOW $20.00

Designer Jason Lee finds inspiration in Japanese culture and anime - influences which are reflected in his vector illustrations. While his detailed and imaginative prints are Pocket Designs' distinguishing feature, Jason considers comfort and long-lasting wear equally important.

Pictured: Hattori Black Mens T-Shirt WAS $60.00 - NOW $20.00

Not only do Pocket Designs tees have fantastic prints - they are top quality, great-fitting & long-lasting. We're big fans of Pocket!

To bring in the new year, we have reduced all current indie art and design Pocket Designs t-shirts to just $20 each to make way for the release of some exciting NEW designs!!

Check out the INDIE SHOP for the Pocket Designs range. (Discount applied at checkout)

Alice Potter

"wrapped around you" brooches; Zu Designs Christmas Show

Alice Potter's works are bold, colourful and ultimately an extension of her personality. They explore colour, contrast, form and texture - creating playful pieces that are both functional accessories and unique works of art. It's this combination that leads Alice to define herself as an art jeweller, opposed to an artist or a jeweller.

Alice is based in Adelaide, and her work is regularly exhibited in galleries and studios around the country. Most recently, her designs were included in group Christmas shows at Zu Designs gallery in Adelaide and Studio 2017 in Sydney.

Alice Potter

"scribble" brooches; ACSA fundraiser exhibition

Alice's recent works explore colour and composition. As a synesthete, she experiments with the relationships between colour, emotion and expression. This is also an extension of her current honors studies which focus on the relationship of colours.

Alice Potter

"eggs and soldiers"; SA Food Awards (The Art of Food) 2011

Evident in many of her works is Alice's background in graphic design. The influence of her previous studies can be seen particularly in her earlier works which focused on layering, and resulted in relatively flat, almost two dimensional pieces. Since then, Alice's works have evolved, and she now creates more three dimensional pieces.

"Having studied design, moving away from a flat was a challenge, I had to forget what I'd learnt and build a form" ~ Alice Potter

Alice Potter

"Busy Busy" brooches; Studio 2017 Christmas showcase

Alice creates her works from the basis of 'making do'; to use materials recycled from other projects, off-cuts or found items. She also attended a textiles workshop in which she learnt to coil and produce string.

This is a skill she now uses quite frequently. Not only is each piece delicately hand made, but where possible, Alice's textiles and string are also hand wound, creating a very personal work which cannot be replicated.

delightful summer baby threads

Liam wearing Buttermilk overalls in Skyways print

I was so delighted to discover the Buttermilk Baby range at Infancy at the beginning of spring/summer. I didn't realise at the time that I was browsing the debut release from a new Australian label, stocked only at Infancy (who have three store locations in the Inner West, Sydney) and The Hip Infant (online).

Liam wearing Buttermilk overalls in Skyways print
Buttermilk Baby's first collections are ideal for hot weather - lightweight cotton in breezy styles (overalls & rompers, shoestring strap dresses, frilly pants & more). The carefully designed prints are just beautiful - the perfect mix of fun and whimsy, sweetness and style (without being over-the-top-tizzy or too-cool-for-school). Liam (pictured above) took some of his first steps in his Skyways print overalls (on sale for AU $19.95)!

Additional releases this summer by Buttermilk Baby included the Cherry Pink Bird All-in-One (AU $29.95) and Marine Blue Bird Romper (AU $19.95) pictured above (making something special out of the basics!), and the most recent - Summer Stripes (pictured above right as the Tie dress, AU $34) and Summer Swallow prints.

Both baby and Buttermilk Baby are simply adorable in these pics! Featured here are the Pocket Sundress (on sale for AU $17) and Bloomers (AU $14.50) in the Carnival Swallow print.

We look forward to what Autumn might bring us from Buttermilk Baby, but for the moment, Summer is the place to be! (By the way, I was happy to see that the size range has been extended to include Newborn to 3 years... so I have plenty of time left to add Buttermilk Baby pieces to Liam's wardrobe!)
