I fell in love with Hamb's simply & beautifully drawn illustrations when I read of Simon Obarzanek and his childhood companion, Snippy the sausage dog. Snippy is the inspiration for the Melbourne artist's latest project - a range of clothing including t-shirts, wool jumpers, skirts and accessories. Pictured above is the Street Fighters men's tee, AUD $64. Below is the Butterflybee canvas bag, AUD $50 and an item I hope to be wearing this winter... the Classic Dog wool jumper, AUD $105. The Hamb range is available online at www.hamb.com.au and is also stocked at Currency (Fitzroy), Scarf (St Kilda), Village Idiom (Yarraville), Bolis (Port Melbourne), Hummingbird 60 (Northcote), The Cats Meow (Melbourne), Tarmac 1 (Fortitude Valley), Small Rhino (Hobart), Method Clothing (Perth) & Modern Love (Wellington).
How cute are these hair pins & elastics?! I came across a selection of Lark hair accessories the other day while hunting for a birthday gift & I couldn't resist them. They are handmade using vintage fabrics and come packaged on a vintage 1950s playing card. Each pair is AUD $10.00. They are available online at www.larkdesigns.com.au or from retailers such as Glamourpuss (Erskineville).
The concept behind the Soma Fashion web site is to bring together a number of talented Australian independent accessory designers and provide an online marketplace for their unique handmade designs. This magpie has collected a wonderful array of shiny baubles in the form of earrings, necklaces, bracelets, brooches, cuffs and exquisite leather bags - every piece is limited edition wearable art.
I'm lucky enough to have been given a Leo Monk handbag as a gift on two separate occasions... and when I take them out, they always receive compliments - lucky as they are! The bags pictured are from Leo Monk's current collection - on the left is "Sonia" (AUD $159) and on the right is "L17" (AUD $175). Both feature the quirky leather combinations and eclectic colours & textures that distinguish the Leo Monk range. If you visit the Newtown store, you can even glimpse the action in the workshop at the back.
